Full text of President Obama’s deficit reduction speech

Good afternoon.  It’s great to be back at GW.  I want you to know that one of the reasons I kept the government open was so I could be here today with all of you.  I wanted to make sure you had one more excuse to skip class.  You’re welcome. Of course, what we’ve been debating here in Washington for the last few weeks will affect your lives in ways that are potentially profound.  This debate over budgets and deficits is about more than just numbers on a page, more than just cutting and spending.  It’s about the kind of future we want.  It’s about the kind of country we believe in.  And that’s what I want to talk about today. From our first days as a nation, we have put our faith in free markets and free enterprise as the engine of America’s wealth and prosperity.  More than citizens of any other country, we are rugged individualists, a self-reliant people with a healthy skepticism of too much government. But there has always been anothe...

You mean to tell me...

Am I and about 40k of my readers and America to understand that Obamacare will pass? You mean to tell me that after all the polls that state that America does not want this bill, Obamacare will pass? You mean to tell me that after all the Townhall meetings that America told their elected officals that they don't want Obamacare will pass? You mean to tell me that day after day and week after week of Tea Parties stating they don't want this bill, Obamacare will pass? You mean to tell me that Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is asking all female Democratic Members to attend a hastily called meeting Wednesday morning to agree with Obamacare and that Obamacare will pass? Tou mean to tell me that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi , still shoring up support for Obamacare that America has been vocal about not passing and Obamacare will pass? You mean to tell me that Rep. John Larson, the chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, said he thinks Democrats already have the votes needed to pass ...

Timmy Must Be Fired, Or Obama Must Be Impeached

The Jenner and Block report on Lehman just keeps on giving. Today I am going to focus on FRBNY's culpability in the apparent Lehman fraud - that is, the role that FRBNY (and thus Tim Geithner) played in keeping an insolvent institution afloat through the use of fraudulent artifices. We must look first to what the PDCF, or "primary dealer credit facility" was created to be. The report does this for us: Under the PDCF, the FRBNY would make collateralized loans to broker ‐ dealers, such as LBI, and in effect, act as a repo counterparty. Unlike a typical counterparty, though, with the creation of the PDCF, the FRBNY was generally understood by market participants to be the “lender of last resort to the broker ‐ dealers.” 5332 Reflecting the fact that broker ‐ dealer liquidity had become increasingly dependent on overnight repos to obtain short ‐ term secured financing, 5333 the PDCF was structured as an overnight facility. Pursuant to the F...

I believe....

I believe the American people are looking for a government that will bring the honor of being an American back to its citizens. With a firm adherence to its peoples Judeo Christian morals. Where the rest of the world looks to America with homage and reverence as the light.

Concerning Haiti.....Nation building?

It is very sad what happened to Haiti. The US military presence – 2,000 additional airborne troops were due to arrive on Tuesday to join 1,000 already on the ground – will focus on securing aid delivery points in advance and then ferrying in supplies. Mr Gates has said US soldiers are under orders to defend themselves, as well as Haitians and foreigners who face a threat. US troops ramped up their operation to ferry food and other supplies by helicopter to victims of the disaster. My question is this, what is the U.S. doing there? Nation building? Should this operation be under U.N. control only? Why are we doing this? We are not saving people. What are we doing? I thought we were there to help not build.

In Praise of Nonconformity

It is pretty rich when the voice of modern U.S. progressivism senses "foreboding" in the land because a new conservative leader proclaims the need for society to "recover the capacity for nonconformism." Rich, for it was progressivism that metastasized from a newly radicalized late 19th Century Europe to successfully challenge traditional American beliefs and institutions in a way not achieved by any other foreign ideology or movement. Progressivism replaced the traditional Judeo-Christian morality at the center of a diverse American social life with a new vision of scientific progress, cultural relativism and material prosperity that now dominates public morality. It transformed a vigorous local community-oriented society into one driven by abstract rules set by gigantic and remote metro-county, state and national bureaucracies. Its ideal of citizen representation was replaced by rule by government experts. This revolution that to a great degree successfully overro...

How to Use Twitter to Become Infamous

By David Cohen on Sep 22, 2009 03:14 PM Washington Redskins rookie linebacker Robert Henson was virtually unknown before this week, as he had yet to play a down in the National Football League. Now he's known for all the wrong reasons. Henson apologized for a series of tweets ripping into Redskins fans for booing the team during Sunday's lackluster 9-7 victory over the visiting St. Louis Rams, Deadspin reported. Among the gems that graced Henson's since-shuttered Twitter account: All you fake half hearted Skins fan can…I won't go there, but I dislike you very strongly, don't come to Fed Ex to boo dim wits!! No I didn't play but I still made more than you in a year and you'd [gladly] switch spots with me in a second. I was talking to the fans [who] said the crazy stuff, I'm use [to heckling] but I've never been booed in my own stadium. Again that was for the half hearted but if everyone wants to jump in come on. The question is who...

Concerning Pres. Obama's school speech

While it is true that a lot of presidents spoke at separate schools and school rooms , this is the first time that a president will speak to all the schools at the same time. As it is no surprise that I am not an Obama supporter by the same token I think or I believe that we should support president Obama and not shut him out from speaking to our school age children. After all present Obama is our president he is the President of the United States. I like every American, does not want anything to happen to this president. I like every American wishes of this president the best. I like every American recognizes something were to happen to this president all hell would break loose in our society. Therefore it is imperative that nothing happens to our president and he is respected for being our president. I cannot agree however with all of this a bailout and so on I cannot agree with this president blessings on Ramadan a Muslim holiday and covering Jesus during a visit to a church. I cann...

#tcot and #fltcot Obama & Iran

Is'nt anyone aware of the fact that the Obama administration contacted Ayatollah Ali Khamenei for a chit-chat before the election? That maybe the Obama administration could be to blame for this entire problem because Obama wanted to further his agenda. Think about it, Obama contacts Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei believes that he has won/or can win over the U.S. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei does not want anything to change in Iran because Obama wanted to talk and share cookies with him. Don't you think that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei did not want to destroy the possibility of a conquer of the U.S. by new heads of state?
