You mean to tell me...

Am I and about 40k of my readers and America to understand that Obamacare will pass? You mean to tell me that after all the polls that state that America does not want this bill, Obamacare will pass? You mean to tell me that after all the Townhall meetings that America told their elected officals that they don't want Obamacare will pass? You mean to tell me that day after day and week after week of Tea Parties stating they don't want this bill, Obamacare will pass? You mean to tell me that Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is asking all female Democratic Members to attend a hastily called meeting Wednesday morning to agree with Obamacare and that Obamacare will pass? Tou mean to tell me that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi , still shoring up support for Obamacare that America has been vocal about not passing and Obamacare will pass? You mean to tell me that Rep. John Larson, the chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, said he thinks Democrats already have the votes needed to pass ...

Responding to everything--by Ben Smith

The bawdy Fox cartoon "Family Guy" features a mentally disabled girl whose mother is governor of Alaska, and Palin, naturally, responds : People are asking me to comment on yesterday’s Fox show that felt like another kick in the gut. Bristol was one who asked what I thought of the show that mocked her baby brother, Trig (and/or others with special needs), in an episode yesterday. Instead of answering, I asked her what she thought. Here is her conscientious reply, which is a much more restrained and gracious statement than I want to make about an issue that begs the question, “when is enough enough?”: “When you’re the son or daughter of a public figure, you have to develop thick skin. My siblings and I all have that, but insults directed at our youngest brother hurt too much for us to remain silent. People with special needs face challenges that many of us will never confront, and yet they are some of the kindest and most loving people you’ll ever meet. Their live...

We must have programs that create some degree of confidence America can be rebuilt, and jobs with it.

The fall in employment is so bad that last year's decline of 3.7 percent was the worst since 1938, when Franklin Roosevelt misjudged an incipient recovery and cut public investment, resulting in a 5.8 percent plunge in employment. We must put "our" people back to work. The administration must initiate policies that help reignite the investment-driven engines of our economy. One worker in an infrastructure project leads to almost 1.7 jobs for others. And we will be fulfilling a desperate national need. It is time the obstacles created by the profusion of bureaucracies at the local, state, and national level were cleared away. And, Drill here, Drill there, Drill everywhere!

PALIN: 'NEVER APOLOGIZE FOR OUR COUNTRY'...

Palin picnic marks beginning of the end By: Jonathan Martin July 25, 2009 07:21 AM EST WASILLA, Alaska — Gov. Sarah Palin kicked off the first of three picnics marking her departure from office with a hometown tribute to the troops and an elbow at the news media. Speaking before a friendly crowd at a park here Friday night, two days before she resigns, Palin invoked her soldier son to assure supporters that she is not downcast over the political frustrations that are prompting her to quit before her term is up. She told the hundreds gathered in a military “Honor Garden” that she wanted to “do something… more worthy than speaking politics” before sharing a story about a reporter who had asked her about how she handles difficult days. “I said, ‘Oh no,’ it is not a down day – my son called this week from Iraq,” Palin recalled, referring to her son, Track, an Army enlistee. “He is safe, he is sound. It is always a good day when my son calls.” Interrupting the applause, Palin said: “I wish ...
