New Yorkers who were devastated nearly ten years ago by the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center are optimistic the day after President Obama announced that U.S. forces killed Osama bin Laden in Pakistan. The chief of staff for former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell will deliver a keynote address Wednesday at a symposium at Nova Southeastern University , examining accountability for crimes against humanity. Retired Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, who served as chief of staff from 2002 to 2005, is set to speak at 6 p.m. at the Alvin Sherman Library on the school's main campus at 3100 Ray Ferrero Jr. Blvd. Wilkerson's address will focus on the war against terrorism, including the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 and the Patriot Act. I use it too! The fast-growing citizen-journalism sector just got a new toy to play with, as TechCrunch described new iPhone app TwitCasting Live , which splits the iPhone screen in half, allowing users to record and broadcast video on the top half, while at the same time accessing their Twitter accounts or the Web on the bottom half. According to TechCrunch, TwitCasting Live users can tweet out a URL for their broadcasts, and their followers can click the links and watch (although without audio on other iPhones). By David Cohen The team behind Twitter-application directory Twitdom turned its attention to Google Buzz with BuzzAware , a directory for add-ons, apps, and plug-ins for the recently launched service, Mashable reported. Twitdom lists more than 1,500 apps, while only 18 are currently included on BuzzAware, according to Mashable.

ABC's Jonathan Karl had a bristly exchange with Bunning just outside one such elevator in the Hart Building -- Bunning was in the elevator and Karl was trying to get in there with him and pose a question about the senator's blocking a bill extending employment benefits. Bunning wasn't having it. Not only did he forbid Karl from entering the elevator, but, as reported by Politico's Glenn Thrush , gave an ABC producer, Zach Wolf , the finger. (In our photograph we see Bunning's use of his pointer finger.) Bunning has been in a foul mood as of late. Some may remember his "Tough Sh-t" utterance on the Senate floor last week. On February 25, 2010 our president will be in a meeting with officials from both parties, discussing a health bill that the U.S.A. does not want. The president will be at this meeting from 10a.m. till 4p.m. The U.S.A. is in a recession with high unemployment. We have troops all over the world. We are in two wars. Our government wants to talk health bill. Why? The proposed government health bill does nothing for prescriptions. So what is it they will be talking about? Our government is involved in almost every facet of our life. They are involved in most business except our health and now want the ability to dictate what care we may get. What does health care have to do with our government? Nothing! If our citizens want health care then let them decide in a free market what to get.

Speaking at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in San Diego, Prof Cicerone and other research leaders said scientists must work to regain public trust by being more open about their findings. “We need to be more transparent and provide more access to our research data,” he said. It is very sad what happened to Haiti. The US military presence – 2,000 additional airborne troops were due to arrive on Tuesday to join 1,000 already on the ground – will focus on securing aid delivery points in advance and then ferrying in supplies. Mr Gates has said US soldiers are under orders to defend themselves, as well as Haitians and foreigners who face a threat. US troops ramped up their operation to ferry food and other supplies by helicopter to victims of the disaster. My question is this, what is the U.S. doing there? Nation building? Should this operation be under U.N. control only? Why are we doing this? We are not saving people. What are we doing? I thought we were there to help not build.

The Philippines where the 1987 Philippine Constitution, states Filipino and English are the official languages. A country that committed itself to promote the American ideals of democracy. The Philippines values its relations with the United States, and has actively supported most of the other's policies with regards to foreign affairs.
