You mean to tell me...

Am I and about 40k of my readers and America to understand that Obamacare will pass? You mean to tell me that after all the polls that state that America does not want this bill, Obamacare will pass? You mean to tell me that after all the Townhall meetings that America told their elected officals that they don't want Obamacare will pass? You mean to tell me that day after day and week after week of Tea Parties stating they don't want this bill, Obamacare will pass? You mean to tell me that Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is asking all female Democratic Members to attend a hastily called meeting Wednesday morning to agree with Obamacare and that Obamacare will pass? Tou mean to tell me that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi , still shoring up support for Obamacare that America has been vocal about not passing and Obamacare will pass? You mean to tell me that Rep. John Larson, the chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, said he thinks Democrats already have the votes needed to pass ...

Timmy Must Be Fired, Or Obama Must Be Impeached

The Jenner and Block report on Lehman just keeps on giving. Today I am going to focus on FRBNY's culpability in the apparent Lehman fraud - that is, the role that FRBNY (and thus Tim Geithner) played in keeping an insolvent institution afloat through the use of fraudulent artifices. We must look first to what the PDCF, or "primary dealer credit facility" was created to be. The report does this for us: Under the PDCF, the FRBNY would make collateralized loans to broker ‐ dealers, such as LBI, and in effect, act as a repo counterparty. Unlike a typical counterparty, though, with the creation of the PDCF, the FRBNY was generally understood by market participants to be the “lender of last resort to the broker ‐ dealers.” 5332 Reflecting the fact that broker ‐ dealer liquidity had become increasingly dependent on overnight repos to obtain short ‐ term secured financing, 5333 the PDCF was structured as an overnight facility. Pursuant to the F...

The Facebook games that millions love (and hate)

STORY HIGHLIGHTS Zynga games like FarmVille, Mafia Wars are played by millions every day on Facebook Expert says social gaming succeeds by appealing to women, other non-traditional gamers Zynga founder says key to success was games that can be played during conference call Backlash leads to FB group of 5 million saying they're tired of seeing games (CNN) -- Early each morning, millions of farmers around the world rise to toil in their fields. By night, gangs of mobsters scheme and legions of poker players shuffle up and deal. Sure, none of it's real. But the overwhelming popularity of so-called social gaming -- simple games that let people play with their friends on networking sites such as Facebook -- is changing the face of video games, experts say. And as the maker of popular titles like FarmVille and Mafia Wars, San Francisco, California-based Zynga has ridden the games' skyrocketing popularity to the top of that emerging market. For Zynga foun...

Windows metrics source lies about identity

Computerworld - One of the more interesting people I've talked with in the last two years is a figment of his own imagination. "Craig Barth," the chief technology officer of Florida-based Devil Mountain Software, a company that makes and markets Windows performance metrics software, is, I have discovered, nobody. He doesn't exist. Barth is, in fact, a nom de plume , which is a fancy, French way of saying "alias." The real man behind the curtain is Randall C. Kennedy , a popular, sometimes outrageous blogger for and frequent contributor to Infoworld , a publication that like Computerworld is part of IDG. Kennedy's connection to InfoWorld was severed on Friday . The two, Barth and Kennedy, are one and the same. The problem was that I didn't know that. The problem was that Kennedy didn't tell me he was Barth, that I didn't figure out Barth was he, and that together, they were Devil Mountain. Devil Mountain's data, der...

How to Use Twitter to Become Infamous

By David Cohen on Sep 22, 2009 03:14 PM Washington Redskins rookie linebacker Robert Henson was virtually unknown before this week, as he had yet to play a down in the National Football League. Now he's known for all the wrong reasons. Henson apologized for a series of tweets ripping into Redskins fans for booing the team during Sunday's lackluster 9-7 victory over the visiting St. Louis Rams, Deadspin reported. Among the gems that graced Henson's since-shuttered Twitter account: All you fake half hearted Skins fan can…I won't go there, but I dislike you very strongly, don't come to Fed Ex to boo dim wits!! No I didn't play but I still made more than you in a year and you'd [gladly] switch spots with me in a second. I was talking to the fans [who] said the crazy stuff, I'm use [to heckling] but I've never been booed in my own stadium. Again that was for the half hearted but if everyone wants to jump in come on. The question is who...
