The March 14 beating in Palmdale was captured on video and posted on YouTube, but has since been removed from the site. The seven boys, ages 13 to 16, were arrested Wednesday for investigation of assault and committing a hate crime, Lt. Don Ford said. The attack happened near Cactus Middle School, but Ford didn't know if any of the teens involved were students there. The video shows as many as 10 boys surrounding the victim and challenging him to a fight. The suspects then began hitting the teen while others watched." During the beating, the teens made raci

TweetDeck taken down after access bug found

ATLANTA (WXIA) -- Twitter has taken the TweetDeck app offline to look into an apparent bug that has given some users access to hundreds of Twitter and Facebook accounts. According to tech blog Techcrunch, Australian TweetDeck user Geoff Evason says he discovered he was somehow able to access hundreds of other accounts through TweetDeck. After emailing and tweeting TweetDeck developer Twitter on Friday, and showing them how the bug allowed him to send tweets from accounts he did not own, Twitter shut down global access to TweetDeck, which is a power app used by thousands of Twitter users around the world. The only word from Twitter was a tweet from @TweetDeck: TweetDeck is currenly down while we look into an issue. Apologies for the inconvenience. TweetDeck allows Twitter users to access and manage multiple accounts, content lists, messages and posts on a single web page. There's no word from Twitter as to when TweetDeck service will be restored.

Richard Branson unveils time machine | MNN - Mother Nature Network : "Either April Fool's has come early or Richard Branson has really has invented a time machine. Since my iPhone currently has an Apple logo and not a Virgin one, I'm going to assume that he's pulling our legs. The 61-year-old earlier today posted a blog post showing off a rather well-done mockup of a "Virgin Time Machine," saying "We've had a slightly frightening breakthrough with a time machine. I've found that we can now go backwards in time but not forwards. Fortunately we can get back to the present." Branson then adds that he's traveled back to 1972, presenting a picture of him in '70s garb and clutching an LP. He then asks the question: "How far backwards would you like to time travel? Where would you like to go?" Writes one commenter: "OK, yep, send me back to 1995 so I can "un" stuff up my finances, regain my house, get rid of

Spike Lee apologizes for retweeting wrong address

Spike Lee apologizes for retweeting wrong address : "Spike Lee has apologized to a Florida couple who say they were forced to leave their home when a Twitter posting that the director helped spread listed their address as that of a man who shot an unarmed teenager. Elaine and David McClain are in their 70s and say they have a son named William George Zimmerman who lived in their Sanford-area home in the mid-1990s. They say he is no relation to 28-year-old George Zimmerman who killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin on Feb. 26. The killing has touched off widespread public outrage and protests across the country, including from Lee and other celebrities, because Zimmerman was not arrested. He says he acted in self-defense. Lee tweeted late Wednesday: "I Deeply Apologize To The McClain Family For Retweeting Their Address. It Was A Mistake. Please Leave The McClain's In Peace."" 'via Blog this'

Ontario's top court legalizes brothels for safety

TORONTO (AP) -- A ban on brothels puts prostitutes at risk and is unconstitutional, Ontario's top court ruled Monday, in a case that is expected to be appealed to Canada's top court and have ramifications for the country at large. The Ontario Court of Appeal said sex workers should be allowed to work safely indoors. "The world in which street prostitutes actually operate is a world of dark streets and barren, isolated, silent places," said the five-judge panel in their ruling. "It is a dangerous world, with always the risk of violence and even death." The court in Canada's most populous province has given the government a year to rewrite the law if it chooses. The panel also said Monday that rules against profitting from prostitution should apply only to "circumstances of exploitation" to prevent pimps from exploiting prostitutes. The change will allow police to prosecute violent and manipulative pimps while at the same time per

President Obama: "On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this, this can be solved but it’s important for him to give me space." President Medvedev: "Yeah, I understand. I understand your message about space. Space for you…" President Obama: "This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility." President Medvedev: "I understand. I will transmit this information to Vladimir, and I stand with you.

Police: Zimmerman says Trayvon decked him with one blow then began hammering his head

On Feb. 26, when Zimmerman first spotted Trayvon, he called police and reported a suspicious person, describing Trayvon as black, acting strangely and perhaps on drugs. Zimmerman got out of his SUV to follow Trayvon on foot. When a dispatch employee asked Zimmerman if he was following the 17-year-old, Zimmerman said yes. The dispatcher told Zimmerman he did not need to do that. There is about a one-minute gap during which police say they're not sure what happened. Zimmerman told them he lost sight of Trayvon and was walking back to his SUV when Trayvon approached him from the left rear, and they exchanged words. Trayvon asked Zimmerman if he had a problem. Zimmerman said no and reached for his cell phone, he told police. Trayvon then said, "Well, you do now" or something similar and punched Zimmerman in the nose, according to the account he gave police. Zimmerman fell to the ground and Trayvon got on top of him and began slamming his head into the sidewalk, he

Mother Seeks Trayvon Martin Trademarks Records: Late teenager's kin filed pair of applications last week

The mother of Trayvon Martin has filed two applications to secure trademarks containing her late son’s name, records show. Sybrina Fulton is seeking marks for the phrases “I Am Trayvon” and “Justice for Trayvon,” according to filings made last week with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. In both instances, Fulton, 46, is seeking the trademarks for use on “Digital materials, namely, CDs and DVDs featuring Trayvon Martin,” and other products. The March 21 USPTO applications, each of which cost $325, were filed by an Orlando, Florida law firm representing Fulton, whose first name is spelled "Sabrina" in the trademark records. Martin, 17, was shot to death last month during a confrontation with George Zimmerman, a 28-year-old neighborhood watch captain. Martin, pictured above, was visiting his father’s home in Sanford, Florida when he was shot to death by Zimmerman, who has claimed that he was acting in self-defense.

T-Shirt Hits Florida Streets In Wake Of Trayvon Martin Killing

Expanding the definition of “cracker,” a t-shirt featuring the photo of the man who shot Trayvon Martin is now available for purchase. As seen at right (click to enlarge), the shirt has a picture of George Zimmerman and the words “Pussy Ass Cracker.” Zimmerman, a 28-year-old Hispanic, killed Martin, 17, last month while acting as a neighborhood watch captain in Sanford, Florida. The shirt’s “pussy ass cracker” line is apparently a reference to lyrics from the rapper Plies’s song “100 Years,” which bemoans stiff sentences handed out by racist judges.

Obama rallies against nuclear proliferation

Speaking at a university in Seoul, US President Barack Obama has said that he is committed to deterring nuclear proliferation, ahead of a two-day summit that will focus on reducing access by terror groups to radioactive material and build a nuclear bomb. "The danger of nuclear terrorism remains one of the greatest threats to global security. That is why in Seoul we need to keep at it," he said in a speech in the South Korean capital ahead of the 53-nation summit on Monday. Obama also assured that the United States can further reduce its nuclear weapons stockpile while maintaining its strategic deterrent and international commitments. Obama told students that he is confident the United States and Russia can jointly reduce their stockpiles of nuclear weapons, building on the successful extension of arms control agreements known as START. The White House said nuclear weapons reduction continues to be a priority in US relations with Russia, and that Obama will raise it w

African-American Lynch Mob | FrontPage Magazine

African-American Lynch Mob | FrontPage Magazine : "Is anybody else out there as sick and tired as I am of lynch mob racists like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton (vide: Tawana Brawley, the Duke Lacrosse kids) who don the mantel of the “civil rights” movement to indict non-blacks in advance of the facts, and incite racial rage against them? Yet that is exactly what they – and scores of black leaders — are doing to an Hispanic individual named George Zimmerman. Along with a cast of thousands, they are holding him guilty of racism before the fact, justifying a hatred, as inflammatory as the hatred once spewed by southern crackers against blacks. There is no evidence whatsoever that race was a defining factor in the tragic death of Trayvon Martin. Notwithstanding the absence of evidence, this unhappy incident is now the occasion for school shut-downs, mass marches and public death threats by enraged African Americans, displaying behaviors reminiscent of the lynch mobs that were once a

Witness counters Trayvon Martin media narrative

Witness counters Trayvon Martin media narrative : "Zimmerman had called 911 to report the suspicious activities of a youth in his neighborhood, telling the dispatcher that he was following Martin. On the recording of another 911 call, repeated cries of “help” can be heard before the gunshot. The witness, identified only as John, says those cries were made by Zimmerman who was on the ground being beaten by Martin. “The guy on the bottom who had a red sweater on was yelling to me: ‘help, help … and I told him to stop and I was calling 911,” he said." If George W. Bush or any other American president had made a comment like this. What do you think the media and American people would have said? "If I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon," Obama said, "I think [Trayvon's parents] are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves, and we are going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened." "Obviously, this is a tragedy," he said. "I can only imagine what these parents are going through, and when I think about this boy, I think about my own kids, and I think every parent in America should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this, and that everybody pulls together -- federal, state and local -- to figure out exactly how this tragedy happened."

So why does one shooting in Florida warrant weeks of national news?

Last weekend in the city of Chicago alone, gangbangers slaughtered ten people and wounded another forty. The youngest fatality is only six years old. The youngest person wounded is only one-year-old. Many of the victim were pedestrians sprayed with bullets in drive by shootings. The national news has said nothing about this. So why does one shooting in Florida warrant weeks of national news? Why has there been thousands of articles a day, for the last four days, about one single shooting? The fact that even the president would chime in on this makes me very suspicious. Almost all of the news items about George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin contains a combination of false statements, opinions presented as facts, transparent distortions, and a complete absence of some of the most relevant details. Almost all news items are written soley from the point of view of the grieving family. The media also fills their articles with outdated baby-faced pictures of Trayvon. Very few include t

Why This Photograph is Worth $578,500

Why This Photograph is Worth $578,500 : "Last week, a collection of 36 prints by William Eggleston was sold for $5.9 million at auction. The top ten list of most expensive photographs ever sold doesn’t contain a single work worth less than a cool million. Just a few months ago, Andreas Gursky’s ‘Rhine II’ became the world’s most expensive photograph, selling for $4.3 million. Every time news like this reaches the Internet, the comments sections of photography blogs explode with righteous indignation. The common sentiment in these reactions seems to be that the art world is populated by rich fools buying the emperor’s new clothes. Some commenters underscore this idea by expressing how unremarkable they think the photograph in question is, or how it fails technically or esthetically. In the case of the recent Eggleston auction, the photograph ‘Memphis (Tricycle)’ that sold for $578,500 was dismissed by several commenters as a snapshot that ‘any fool with a camera could have tak

Marine sergeant faces discipline for Facebook critique of Obama | Reuters : "The Marine Corps has initiated disciplinary action against a Marine sergeant for comments he posted on his "Armed Forces Tea Party" Facebook page criticizing President Barack Obama, a spokesman said on Thursday. Sergeant Gary Stein, 26, a weather forecaster assigned to Camp Pendleton near San Diego, cast the Marines' reaction to his comments as an infringement on his freedom of speech and defended his right to express personal political opinions when he is off-duty and out of uniform. "There is not a document in this world that trumps the United States Constitution," the San Diego Union-Tribune quoted him as saying. But Army veteran Rick Rogers, host of the San Diego military talk radio show "Front & Center," said Stein appeared to be instigating a confrontation with the Marines "to get notoriety." Is it time for the Republicans to settle on a candidate? On Politics Louisiana primary

Santorum is the biggest joke ... In this climate, it is hard to predict success for the campaign to repeal the creationism law in the state legislative session that has just begun. The wall of separation was conceived to prevent government intrusion in matters of conscience, and we owe it in large measure to Roger Williams, subject of John Barry's latest absorbing book. When Williams, exiled from Massachusetts in the 1630s, found refuge in what was to become Rhode Island, he acknowledged the hand of God by naming his settlement Providence. The faithful who now chafe at the Establishment Clause cannot be more devout than its progenitor. And chafe they do, none more than Santorum, who has just announced that JFK's celebrated 1960 speech on the "absol

Minnesota to vote on rescinding immunity for lawmakers facing drunken driving arrest

Watch the latest video at video.foxnews.com The Minnesota Legislature is expected to vote this week to rescind a get-out-of-jail-free card for state lawmakers who are arrested for drunken driving. The provision, found in the state constitution, allows lawmakers "privilege from arrest" when they are pulled over by police. According to Article IV, Section 10, of the Minnesota Constitution, "the members of each house in all cases except treason, felony and breach of the peace, shall be privileged from arrest during the session of their respective houses and in going to or returning from the same." "Back in the 1800s, when our Founding Fathers wrote the constitution, there was a natural fear of political retribution for certain votes and freedoms of speech, that our Founding
